CANADA YOUTH WINS WORLD DAIRY EXPO FITTING CONTEST

MADISON, Wis. –The second World Dairy Expo Youth Fitting Contest was held Sunday morning at the Estrumate Sale Pavilion. Starting at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, the participants, whose ages ranged from 16 to 21 years, from across the United States and Canada, pitted their dairy cattle fitting skills against each other in this competitive event.

Each contestant was responsible to bring an unclipped show animal or sale animal to the contest as well as their own equipment and supplies. They clipped and fit the hair to enhance each animal’s strengths and weaknesses. These eager youth clipped and fitted the animals to perfection. Aaron Eaton of Syracuse, New York served as the official judge evaluating the fitting skills competition.

This contest kicks off the first of many youth events this week at World Dairy Expo.

World Dairy Expo takes place at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin. “Around the World of Dairy in 5 Days” is the theme for 2011 show scheduled for October 4 through October 8.  Hours for World Dairy Expo are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.  Daily admission is $8 (US dollars) per person and season passes are $25 (US dollars) per person.
